Our Center Director, Dr. Hatice Polat, Participated in the Panel Discussion “Women Witnesses of Genocide: Media and Resistance in Gaza”

The panel discussion titled “Women Witnesses of Genocide: Media and Resistance in Gaza,” organized by the Presidency Communications Directorate in Ankara, was held with high attendance. Within the scope of the panel, important sessions were held addressing the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza through the perspective of women`s testimonies and the media.

Dr. Assistant Professor Hatice Polat, Director of the Research and Application Center for Women and Family Studies, also participated in the panel and closely followed the proceedings. The first session of the panel, titled “Voices Resisting the World`s Silence: The Resistance of Women Journalists in Gaza,” addressed the pressures faced by women journalists working in Gaza, their testimonies, and their efforts to convey the truth to the world. The session emphasized that women journalists are not only news reporters but also carriers of resistance and memory.

The second panel session, titled “Media Pressure: The Siege of Truth in Gaza,” discussed the control of information, censorship mechanisms, and the silence of the international media in wartime conditions. The session highlighted the vital importance of independent media and conscientious journalism in making what is happening in Gaza visible.

By bringing the reality of genocide in Gaza to the forefront through women`s testimonies, resistance, and representation in the media, the panel created an important platform for awareness in terms of human rights, women`s studies, and media ethics.
