The fifth session of the “Maarif Model Family Conferences” program, conducted in collaboration between the Çankırı Karatekin University Women and Family Studies Research and Application Center and the Çankırı Provincial Directorate of National Education, was held at Güneş Primary School on November 21, 2025.

The conference was given by Dr. Nurdan Yağlı Soykan, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Islamic Sciences at Çankırı Karatekin University. In her speech, Dr. Soykan addressed the values education approach, which is the focus of the Maarif Model education system, and specifically discussed the theme of compassion with parents. Soykan stated that compassion is a fundamental value both in family relationships and in the development of a child`s personality and character. Highlighting the holistic structure of the Maarif Model, which aims to strengthen human values such as compassion, empathy, justice, responsibility, and courtesy in students, Soykan emphasized that these values are first transformed into behavior in the family environment.

The conference highlighted that compassion is a value that increases children`s emotional resilience, improves their social relationships, and positively reflects on the education process. Parents were provided with information about exemplary behaviors and communication methods that can instill a sense of compassion in children in daily life. The event was followed with interest by the administrators, teachers, and parents of Güneş Primary School. At the end of the program, participants had the opportunity to exchange views with Dr. Soykan during a question-and-answer session.
