Dr. Semra Nurdan Yağlı Soykan, an assistant professor at the Faculty of Islamic Sciences at Çankırı Karatekin University, held a seminar on “compassion” for parents at İstiklal Yolu Elementary School as part of the Maarif Model Family Conferences.

During the seminar, Dr. Yağlı Soykan highlighted the importance of the emotion of compassion in both individual and societal life, noting that instilling this value, particularly within the family environment, is crucial for children’s emotional and social development. She emphasized that compassion is closely linked to virtues such as empathy, sharing, and sensitivity to the needs of others.

Highlighting the importance of parents serving as role models for compassionate behavior, Yağlı Soykan noted that fostering communication within the family based on love, understanding, and compassion contributes to raising healthy individuals. She added that preserving and strengthening the value of compassion holds significant societal importance in the face of increasing individualism in today’s world.

The program concluded after the parents’ questions were answered. It was noted that the seminar, which was followed with great interest by the participants, contributed to raising awareness and fostering a sense of responsibility within families.
